Optimizing the Benefits of Solar
As residents of coastal communities affected by climate change, AHB has a direct interest in local and global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Since 2017, AHB has advocated for policies that promote our dual goals of expanding solar power and protecting the ecological assets vital to Herring Bay’s resilience and biodiversity. We support financial and procedural incentives for using previously developed surfaces; safeguards for minimizing impacts on environmentally sensitive areas; standards for maximizing the ecological value of the vegetation under solar arrays; and developing local plans for achieving a transition to a clean energy future.
